Hamadan rug - West Persian,
rust madder field with hexagonal lattice containing boteh and flowerheads, soft blue, white and madder borders, c1900, 185 x 105cm, £245.

I have been avoiding Hamadans lately as they don't seem to be of much interest to the ardent collector but the soft colours and white framing border combined with the pliable texture of the weave make this rug particularly attractive. The side overcasting and ends need attention (perhaps £100/150 ish...) but the pile is in reasonable condition overall.
